Iran Security Chief Says Tehran Has Given Mediators Its Conditions for Resuming Talks With Washington

September 19, 2026 — Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Expediency Discernment Council and a senior security official, said Iran has conveyed to Qatari and Pakistani mediators its conditions for re-engaging in negotiations to end the war with the United States: an end to fighting on all fronts, release of Iran's frozen assets, and a lifting of the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Rezaei said Tehran was awaiting a response from President Trump.
