AJK Election Phase 2: PML-N Extends Lead to 24 Seats
The second phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly election covered nine Muzaffarabad division constituencies and all 12 refugee-reserved seats representing Kashmiris settled across Pakistan, held amid heavy rain, landslides, and continued political tension. Voting in LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I was postponed to August 4 due to weather disruption. The Election Commission notified results for 21 of the phase's constituencies, bringing PML-N's cumulative total to 24 seats and PPP's to 10 after the first two phases, positioning PML-N to secure a simple majority once the final Poonch-division phase concludes. PPP alleged ballot-stuffing irregularities in the delayed Muzaffarabad results.
