Three Journalists Killed in Israeli Strike on Press Vehicle in Lebanon
An Israeli airstrike on March 28, 2026 struck a clearly marked press car near Jezzine in southern Lebanon, killing three journalists: Ali Shoaib (Al-Manar TV), Fatima Ftouni (Al-Mayadeen TV), and Mohamad Ftouni (freelance). The CPJ opened an investigation. The strike occurred amid the broader Israel-Lebanon war that resumed in early March 2026 following Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Israel had already surpassed all other governments in journalist killings since CPJ began tracking in 1992, with at least 259 confirmed journalist deaths in the Gaza conflict alone.
