All Hostages Accounted For — Crisis Fully Resolved as of January 2026

As of March 27, 2026, no Israeli hostages remain in Gaza. The 902-day hostage crisis came to its conclusion on January 26, 2026, when IDF forces recovered the remains of Master Sgt. Ran Gvili — a slain police officer and the last of the 251 hostages taken on October 7, 2023 — from a cemetery in northern Gaza. Final accounting: 168 returned alive, 85 bodies repatriated. Alive returns included: 8 rescued by IDF military operations, 5 released outside ceasefire frameworks, 105 returned in the November 2023 temporary truce, 30 in the January 2025 ceasefire Phase One, and 20 final living hostages released October 13, 2025 under Trump's 20-point peace plan. This marked the first time since 2014 that Hamas holds no Israeli captives.
