North Korea Fires Ballistic Missile from Wonsan Toward East Sea

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported at least one ballistic missile fired from the Wonsan area into the sea off the east coast on the morning of Oct 3 (KST), flying over 700 km (Japan estimated ~680 km). The launch came days after Seoul blamed Pyongyang for a Sept 21 DMZ blast that wounded three South Korean soldiers; Seoul's presidential security office held an emergency meeting and Japan issued an alert.
