China's Wang Huning Leads Delegation to Pyongyang, Third Senior PRC Visit of 2026

| North Korea

Wang Huning, China's fourth-ranking official and the Communist Party's top ideologue, arrived in Pyongyang leading a party-and-government delegation on a three-day visit through July 17, timed to the 65th anniversary of the China–DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. Wang met Workers' Party official Jo Yong-won and affirmed China's will to implement the agreements reached when Xi Jinping visited Pyongyang June 8–9, 2026. Jo said North Korea seeks to deepen 'strategic communication and tactical cooperation' with Beijing. The trip is the third major China-DPRK exchange in 2026, reflecting Beijing's effort to reassert influence over Pyongyang as it deepens ties with Russia.
