Kim Jong-un and Daughter Kim Ju-ae Inspect Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm on Wihwa Island
Kim Jong-un visited the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm on Wihwa Island, near the mouth of the Yalu River on the China-DPRK border, on Saturday May 31, 2026. His daughter Kim Ju-ae accompanied him on the inspection. KCNA reported the visit on June 1. Kim reviewed the regional development project with senior party and government officials, examining the 4.5 sq km greenhouse complex completed in February 2026. He called for a 'radical' improvement in rural living conditions as part of the DPRK's ongoing 5-year rural revitalization plan. The Sinuiju greenhouse is one of dozens of regional agro-industrial facilities completed or under construction under Kim's rural modernization drive launched at the 8th WPK Congress in January 2021. Kim praised the farm's technical staff and ordered further expansion and model replication at other facilities across the country. The visit reflects Kim's domestic-oriented governance posture in the intervals between weapons tests — the Jongju SRBM and AI-guided cruise missile tests just days earlier (May 25–27) demonstrate the dual-track nature of DPRK policy. Kim Ju-ae's continued accompaniment at official events reinforces the ongoing succession signaling that began at DPRK missile launches in late 2022.
