Security Forces Report 1,487 Insurgents Killed, 1,160 Kidnap Victims Rescued in July–August Operations

Defence Headquarters spokesman Maj. Gen. Samaila Uba disclosed on September 1 that the armed forces conducted 7,062 security operations across Borno, Yobe, Taraba, Katsina, Kwara, Zamfara, Sokoto, Plateau, Benue, Niger, Oyo, and Kaduna states in July–August, neutralising 1,487 terrorists and insurgents, arresting 354 suspects, rescuing 777 kidnap victims, and recovering 91 firearms and 44 IEDs; 309 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters were killed in the Northeast alone. The same day, the Nigeria Police Force separately reported 1,334 suspects arrested and 383 kidnap victims rescued nationwide over the same two months, including 32 victims freed in Sokoto State and 76 through collaborative operations, plus disruption of an IPOB/ESN network in Imo State. Combined, the two-month tally puts rescued kidnap victims at roughly 1,160.
