Troops Repel ISWAP Infiltration Attempt in Cross Kauwa, Kukawa LGA
At around 10:20pm on July 11, suspected ISWAP fighters attempted to infiltrate the Cross Kauwa community in Kukawa LGA, Borno State. The Nigerian Army said preliminary forensic analysis indicated the failed operation was coordinated by four senior ISWAP commanders, with the alleged involvement of three foreign terrorist facilitators — a detail troops said was corroborated by a recovered camcorder linked to the foreign operatives. Troops repelled the attack, part of a continued pattern of ISWAP probing operations around the Kukawa/Metele corridor that has been targeted by prior joint Nigeria-US strikes in May.
