Civil Society Urges Tinubu and National Assembly to Ratify AU Malabo Protocol on Terrorism

At a security and governance dialogue in Abuja on May 8, civil society groups urged President Tinubu and the National Assembly to ratify the African Union's Malabo Protocol, which would strengthen Nigeria's legal framework for prosecuting terrorist offenses and transnational crimes under continental jurisdiction. Nigeria signed but has not yet deposited its instrument of ratification, leaving a significant gap in its counter-terrorism legal architecture as ISWAP escalates attacks across the northeast.
