Junta Aircraft Bomb Ngapali and Nyaung Chaung Villages in Thandwe and Gwa Townships
Overnight into August 21, 2026, the Arakan Army reported that eight junta jet fighters plus one Y-12 and one Y-8 aircraft dropped approximately 100 bombs across Ngapali town, Thandwe Township, and Nyaung Chaung Village, Gwa Township, in Rakhine State. The Ngapali strike killed 1 person and injured 14, while the Gwa strike injured 8. The claim has not yet been independently corroborated beyond the AA's own information desk; a separate BNI tally of Rakhine/Chin airstrikes for August 2-24 recorded a combined 19 killed/40 injured in Thandwe Township and 8 killed/9 wounded in Gwa Township for the month, consistent with continued heavy bombardment of the area but not confirming this specific night's toll.
