Junta Airstrike and Artillery Hit Schools and IDP Camp Near Demawso, Karenni State

Around 6:00pm on August 6, 2026, junta aircraft bombed a middle-school building in western Demawso (Demoso), Karenni State, just after school dismissal. Artillery shells also landed near an IDP camp several miles from active fighting, killing one displaced man in his 50s and wounding a woman in her 70s, according to the Interim Executive Council. At least 5 surrounding schools closed indefinitely as a result.
