SAC Airstrike Campaign Kills 10+ Children Under Age 12 in Myingyan and Taungtha Townships — Incendiary Bombs, Drones, Gyrocopters, and Artillery Used

| Myanmar

A Mizzima English investigation published May 2, 2026 documented that more than 10 children under age 12 were killed in a single week (approximately April 20–27) in Myingyan and Taungtha townships in central Myanmar through a sustained SAC aerial and artillery campaign. Weapons documented included incendiary bombs dropped by jet fighters, armed drones, gyrocopters, paramotors, and howitzer shelling by Light Infantry Battalion 15. On April 22, strikes on Yon Htoe village destroyed a monastery and surrounding homes. The junta's 'scorched earth' policy in the area reportedly escalated following recent changes in local military administration leadership. A 12-year-old girl was also killed by SAC artillery fire in Moe Tain Pyin Village, Natogyi Township, in the same period. Separately, Mizzima reported 11 civilians killed in the Kyin Dway Bridge double-tap strike in Kanpetlet Township (Chin State) from the same period. The killing of 10+ children in one week represents one of the most intensive child-targeting patterns documented by Mizzima in 2026, consistent with a deliberate SAC policy of collective punishment in areas with resistance presence. The use of incendiary weapons against civilian areas violates customary international humanitarian law.
