SAC Jet Drops 500-Pound Bombs on Khawpuichhip and Zimpi Villages in Falam Township — 5 Children and 1 Man Killed Near India Border; 150+ Refugees Flee to Mizoram

| Myanmar

A Myanmar junta jet fighter from Tada-U Air Base dropped two 500-pound bombs on Khawpuichhip village (approximately 5 km from the Mizoram/India border) and Zimpi village in the Hualngoram area of Falam Township, Chin State, on May 1, 2026 — killing five children aged 3 to 10 years and one man aged 29, injuring at least 10 others, and destroying 15–20 buildings. The junta also burned Thlanrawn village in Falam Township the same afternoon. The strikes near the Indian border triggered a fresh wave of civilian displacement: more than 150 villagers fled across the border into Zokhawthar, Champhai District, Mizoram, adding to the approximately 30,000 Myanmar refugees already sheltering in India's northeast states. The Khawpuichhip/Zimpi strikes are part of the SAC's ongoing air campaign in Chin State following its April 25-26 recapture of Falam town — a campaign that also included the April 30 Kanpetlet bridge construction site strike (9 workers killed) and a pattern of post-recapture aerial punishment in surrounding villages. The proximity to the Indian border and the confirmed refugee influx into Mizoram threatens to escalate bilateral tensions between India and Myanmar on humanitarian grounds. MoeMaKa CDM News and Northeast Live TV documented the strike; Aryan Age reported the refugee influx into Champhai District.
