SAC Airstrike Kills 9 Construction Workers at Chaung Ku Bridge Site in Kanpetlet, Chin State — Two 300-Pound Bombs Dropped on Civilian Infrastructure

| Myanmar

Myanmar's military junta conducted an airstrike on the Chaung Ku bridge construction site near Kyindwe town in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State, killing nine construction workers and seriously injuring three more. SAC aircraft dropped two 300-pound bombs directly on the site, destroying one JCB excavator, one truck, and three motorcycles belonging to the construction crew. All victims were civilian workers engaged in building civilian infrastructure — not combatants or military personnel. Kanpetlet Township lies in Chin State's southern Mindat District, an area where the Arakan Army has been expanding its operational reach from Rakhine State and where Chin Brotherhood Alliance (CBA) forces have been active against the junta. The strike follows the SAC's April 25-26 recapture of Falam (northern Chin State) and the subsequent positioning of approximately 200 junta troops in Kangyi village, Saw Township (Magway Region), from which the SAC is reportedly threatening a push into southern Chin State. The deliberate targeting of civilian construction workers at a bridge project reflects the SAC's documented policy of destroying civilian infrastructure in territories outside its physical control — treating all economic activity in resistance-adjacent zones as a legitimate military target. MoeMaKa CDM News reported the strike in its April 30, 2026 dispatch.
