Third Border-Crossing Strike in Two Weeks: Russian Drone Hits Vynohradivka Checkpoint
A Russian Shahed-type drone struck the Vynohradivka border checkpoint on the Ukrainian side of the Ukraine-Moldova border in Odesa Oblast overnight on August 25, sparking a fire and damaging crossing infrastructure. Ukraine's State Border Guard Service suspended passenger and vehicle traffic, redirecting it to alternative checkpoints; the crossing reopened roughly 24 hours later on August 26. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called it the third attack on a Ukraine-Moldova border crossing in two weeks — after the Reni and Tabachi-Mirne strikes — describing "a clear pattern" and accusing Russia of deliberately trying to disrupt connectivity between Ukraine and Moldova. No casualties were reported.
