Third Airspace Breach in Nine Days: Object Explodes Near Talmaza

An unidentified aerial object entered Moldovan airspace at 17:37 local time on August 17 and exploded shortly after in a cornfield near Talmaza, close to the Ukrainian border, sparking small forest fires. Investigators found a crater roughly 2 metres wide and 50cm deep, with blast damage spread across a 45x20 metre area; no injuries were reported. Recovered fragments included turbojet propulsion and flight-control components resembling those used in missile-type UAVs. Ukraine's Air Force said a Russian "Banderol" drone had crossed the border, but Moldovan investigators said the wreckage could not be conclusively identified. It marked Moldova's third reported drone incident in nine days, prompting a temporary partial airspace closure.
