Sandu: Some Drones Hit Moldova by Accident, Others Sent on Purpose

In an August 17 interview, President Maia Sandu said the pattern of drone trajectories offers a clue to whether Moldovan airspace violations are coincidental spillover from the Russia-Ukraine war or a deliberate test of the region's response capacity, saying "some drones enter our airspace by accident, others are sent intentionally," and noting the same dual pattern in Romania and Poland. Her remarks followed the third airspace breach in nine days and came as Moldova pressed NATO and EU partners for enhanced air-defence and radar cooperation.
