Parliament Elects Investor Vasile Tofan as New Prime Minister
President Sandu nominated Vasile Tofan, 44, a senior partner at Ukraine-focused investment firm Horizon Capital with degrees from Harvard Business School and Erasmus University, as prime minister. Moldova's PAS-controlled parliament elected Tofan on July 21 by a vote of 53–21 with 21 abstentions, backed by the governing Party of Action and Solidarity. Tofan pledged to continue Munteanu's reform agenda and push forward Moldova's EU accession bid amid ongoing corruption and energy pressures.
