Unclaimed Blasts Hit Transnistrian Security Ministry and Radio Towers
A series of unclaimed explosions struck Transnistria over April 25-27, 2022: RPG fire damaged the Ministry of State Security building in Tiraspol on April 25, and on April 26 two powerful radio transmitters rebroadcasting Russian channels were destroyed in the village of Maiac, Grigoriopol district. No one was hurt and no group claimed responsibility. Transnistrian authorities raised the territory's terrorist threat level to "red," and the incidents — occurring two months into Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine — fuelled fears the breakaway region could become a new front in the war.
