On October 1, two 18-year-old twin brothers, former students of Secondary School No. 13 in Ejido La Unión, Torreón, Coahuila, attacked the school with machetes and rudimentary explosives, killing a vice principal and injuring four people (two teachers, a student and a bystander). At her October 2 press conference Sheinbaum announced a working group to demand that social media platforms remove content promoting violence, abuse or harassment; Security Minister Omar García Harfuch said a decree setting platform obligations would follow the next week.
