Volunteer Searcher Cecilia García Ramblas Confirmed Killed — Guanajuato

| Mexico

Prosecutors in Guanajuato confirmed that one of two bodies found near Puerto de Valle was that of Cecilia García Ramblas, 28, a member of the civilian search collective 'Salamanca Unidos Buscando Desaparecidos.' She had been abducted from her home in Valtierrilla by armed men on March 14, 2026. García Ramblas had joined the collective after her brother disappeared in 2021 and had helped locate his remains in 2025. Her killing underscores the lethal dangers facing families searching for disappeared loved ones in Guanajuato — the single most violent state in Mexico. Human rights organization ARTICLE 19 condemned the killing and warned that searching for missing persons in Mexico has itself become a death sentence.
