Fadlallah Says Hezbollah Open to Political Solution as Feud With Bassil Erupts

Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah said the party and Amal are not opposed to a 'political solution' in the south, favoring 'diplomacy rooted in our rights' and indirect negotiations, but said no reasonable proposal has been offered since the Nov 27, 2024 ceasefire and ruled out 'surrender, submission, or subservience.' The remarks came as a public feud broke out between Fadlallah and Free Patriotic Movement leader Gebran Bassil, who blamed Hezbollah for dragging Lebanon into an 'unnecessary war' that left its base 'destitute, displaced, emigrant and bankrupt'; Fadlallah accused Bassil of lacking 'loyalty' and being 'morally bankrupt.'
