Israeli Airstrikes Kill 20+ Across South Lebanon, Civil Defense Center Destroyed in Nabatieh
Israeli forces launched a major wave of air attacks across southern Lebanon on May 23, killing at least 20 people and wounding dozens more. At least five people were killed in strikes on the Al-Baqbouq area north of Tyre. Nine were killed and six injured in a strike on a residential building in Seir al-Gharbiya, Nabatieh district. Israeli strikes also destroyed the Civil Defense Center in Nabatieh, including firefighting and rescue equipment. Twenty-five medical staff were injured at Hiram Hospital in the South governorate following multiple strikes in the immediate vicinity. The Lebanese Health Ministry called the attacks a 'systematic campaign against civilian infrastructure'. UN officials condemned the escalation as ceasefire violations.
