Hezbollah Rejects Ceasefire Terms; Cites 10,000 Israeli Violations Since April 16
Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem declared 'there is no ceasefire in Lebanon,' accusing Israeli forces of committing more than 10,000 violations of the US-brokered April 16 ceasefire agreement. Qassem claimed approximately 500 Lebanese civilians had been killed since the ceasefire was announced. The statement marked Hezbollah's formal rejection of direct talks with Israel, as the Lebanese government — under significant US and Israeli pressure — pursued negotiations for a comprehensive peace and security agreement. Meanwhile, the Lebanese government, led by President Aoun and PM Salam, banned all Hezbollah military activities and demanded weapons surrender following the March 2, 2026 resumption of hostilities.
