PM Takaichi Arrives in India for 16th India–Japan Annual Summit

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi arrived in New Delhi on July 1, 2026 for her first official visit to India, kicking off the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit (July 1-3) with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Takaichi was accompanied by a roughly 50-strong business delegation including Suzuki Motor president Toshihiro Suzuki and senior Itochu and Toyota Tsusho executives. Talks centered on the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, energy resilience cooperation, defense ties, supply-chain resilience, and collaboration on AI and semiconductors.
