Israeli Fire Kills Five Palestinians in Gaza Over 24 Hours; Toll Reaches 73,928 Since October 2023

Gaza's Health Ministry said Israeli fire killed five more Palestinians and wounded 35 others over the 24 hours to Thursday, September 24, 2026: Hasan Takreem al-Batta died in central Khan Younis of wounds sustained in an earlier attack; Rania Salama Saad was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the al-Mawasi area of Rafah, southern Gaza; Muhannad Hosni Abu Medyin was shot dead west of az-Zahra in central Gaza; and Jabir Moqbel was killed in a strike near the American Hospital in az-Zawayda, his body reportedly struck a second time as relatives tried to transport it toward Gaza City, critically wounding two more relatives. A fifth victim was not immediately identified. The ministry put the toll since the October 2025 ceasefire at 1,408 killed and 4,916 wounded (834 bodies recovered), and the cumulative toll since October 7, 2023 at 73,928 killed and 175,030 wounded.
