Israeli Strikes Kill at Least 10 in Gaza City Police HQ and Nuseirat, Including 13-Year-Old Girl
Israeli strikes killed at least 10 Palestinians on August 19, 2026, in two separate attacks, two days after US envoy Jared Kushner reportedly asked Israeli leadership to respond only to threats deemed imminent. The larger strike hit the municipal police headquarters in Gaza City, killing nine people, including eight police officers and 13-year-old Dana Haitham al-Jamasi, a displaced girl. Among the dead were Col. Fatina Abdul Jabbar al-Sahhar, director of Gaza's Women's Police Department, and Brig. Gen. Ayman Mahmoud Jundiya, acting director of Gaza Governorate Police; 15 more were wounded. In a separate strike, the IDF hit a motorcyclist in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, killing one person the military described as a Hamas militant. Hamas condemned the police headquarters strike as 'a new war crime,' and senior Hamas official Basem Naim called it 'a brazen message' aimed at the US-led Board of Peace. The Board of Peace did not comment on the strikes.
