Hamas Elects Khalil al-Hayya as Head of Political Bureau

Hamas formally elected Khalil al-Hayya as head of its political bureau, ending nearly two years of collective leadership that followed the killing of Yahya Sinwar. Al-Hayya, based in Doha, is Hamas's chief negotiator in disarmament talks with the US-led Board of Peace and has lost multiple family members to Israeli strikes since the October 2025 ceasefire.
