US Rep. Ro Khanna Detained ~90 Minutes by Armed Israeli Settlers Near Khirbet Zanuta

US Representative Ro Khanna said he and members of his delegation were blocked and detained for roughly 90 minutes by Israeli settlers, some carrying M4 rifles, near the depopulated Palestinian hamlet of Khirbet Zanuta in the South Hebron Hills. Khanna said that when IDF troops arrived they sided with the settlers rather than freeing the group; the Israeli military said troops were dispatched after a report of Israeli civilians unlawfully blocking vehicles, and that they dispersed the settlers and reopened the road. Khanna was released after contact with US embassy officials and Israeli police.
