IDF Fire Kills 7-Month-Old Baby in Hebron (Tel Rumeida); Parents Wounded
Israeli troops shot and killed Sam Fahd Abu Haikal, a 7-month-old Palestinian infant, in the Tel Rumeida area south of Hebron on June 6, 2026. Soldiers opened fire on the family's vehicle; the baby was struck in the face and killed. Both parents were wounded. The IDF stated that soldiers fired at a car perceived to be accelerating toward them, and that an initial inquiry concluded the three Palestinians wounded or killed were uninvolved civilians. The killing of a 7-month-old drew immediate international condemnation and widespread media coverage. The incident occurred in H2 Hebron — an area under Israeli military control where approximately 500 settlers live among 30,000 Palestinians, and where checkpoint shootings have been documented repeatedly.
