Gaza Ministry of Health: 72,939 Killed, 172,927 Wounded Since October 7, 2023; 930 Killed Since Ceasefire
Gaza's Ministry of Health issued updated cumulative figures on May 31, 2026: 72,939 Palestinians killed and 172,927 wounded since October 7, 2023. The figures cover only those who reached hospitals and represent a lower bound, as thousands remain missing under rubble in inaccessible areas — with 781 additional bodies recovered from rubble since the October 2025 ceasefire. Since the ceasefire went into effect on October 11, 2025, 930 Palestinians have been killed and 2,819 wounded by Israeli strikes — described by Gaza's Government Media Office as 3,005+ ceasefire violations. The UN has confirmed the continuation of a famine emergency in Gaza, with WFP's IPC Phase 5 designation covering the Gaza governorate. By end of June 2026, an estimated 43,400 children face severe risk of death from malnutrition — triple the January 2026 estimate. Only 49,973 of 135,600 allocated aid trucks entered Gaza from October 2025 to May 27, 2026 — just 36% of the required volume.
