11 Palestinian Families Forcibly Evicted from Silwan's Batn al-Hawa — East Jerusalem
At least 11 Palestinian families were forcibly evicted from the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood of Silwan, occupied East Jerusalem. Their homes were transferred to the Israeli settler organization Ateret Cohanim under a 1970 Israeli law granting Jews exclusive property-reclaim rights for pre-1948 property — with no reciprocal right for Palestinians. B'Tselem stated: 'Amidst the ongoing illegal and lethal Israeli-American offensive against Iran, Israel is expanding its ethnic cleansing in East Jerusalem, throwing Palestinian families into the streets.' Norwegian Refugee Council and Ir Amim confirmed the evictions. At-risk population: approximately 90 families (700 people) in Batn al-Hawa face imminent displacement; 1,500 people from 150 families in Silwan's al-Bustan area are also threatened.
