Pezeshkian and Putin Condemn Western Sanctions at BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi
President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi, jointly condemning Western sanctions and urging the bloc to deepen trade ties. Pezeshkian said pressure on Iran has entered a 'dangerous phase,' shifting from sanctions to direct US-Israeli military aggression, and called for BRICS to 'create an environment in which no country can disrupt the legitimate trade of another country through monopolizing a financial instrument or technology,' pushing for expanded trade in national currencies rather than Western-dominated payment systems. Putin said more than 30,000 sanctions have been imposed on Russia — twice the number levied against all other sanctioned countries combined.
