'No to Execution Tuesdays' Campaign Marks 137th Week as Executions Since Late August Top 45
Prisoners across 62 facilities nationwide — including Qezel Hesar, Evin, Karaj Central, Qarchak and regional prisons — marked the 137th consecutive week of the 'No to Execution Tuesdays' campaign with coordinated hunger strikes protesting the accelerating pace of state executions. The campaign's statement said at least 11 individuals were hanged in the preceding week alone, bringing the total recorded since August 23 to more than 45. The statement highlighted the cases of Ali Zarei, a 2022-protest eye-injury survivor facing a death sentence, and Erfan Mirzaei, a political prisoner who died under suspicious circumstances in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, alongside a group of ten protesters sentenced to death plus 11 years each. The campaign called for international solidarity and intervention from human rights organizations.
