Livelihood Protests by Retirees and Workers Spread Across Iranian Cities

Social Security retirees, plundered depositors, coal miners, truck drivers, bakers, and students staged protests across Tehran, Shush, Ahvaz, Dezful, Kermanshah, Rasht, Karaj, and Tabriz, defying temperatures exceeding 50°C in some cities. Demonstrators demanded pension increases in line with the cost of living, overdue payments, free healthcare, and the release of detained workers, chanting slogans including 'Enough of warmongering, our tables are empty' and 'Inflation and high prices, no to war and ruin.' The protests reflect deepening public anger over the economic toll of sanctions, currency collapse, and the resumed war with the US and Israel, coming just days after the conclusion of Ali Khamenei's state funeral.
