Pentagon Identifies 19th US Service Member to Die in Support of Iran War

The Army identified Maj. Bianca C. Wilkerson, 37, of Norfolk, Virginia — posthumously promoted from captain — as the 19th US service member to die while deployed in support of the war with Iran. Wilkerson, assigned to Headquarters, US Army Central & Third Army at Shaw Air Force Base, died September 18 in a non-combat, medical-incident death while deployed to Doha, Qatar supporting overseas operations; her death was recorded in the Pentagon's system on September 21 and publicly announced September 23. The Washington Post had separately reported Sept 18-19 that undisclosed deaths put the true US toll at 22 or more, a figure the Pentagon has not confirmed.
