UN Fact-Finding Mission Finds 'Reasonable Grounds' of US War Crimes in Iran Strikes

A UN Human Rights Council-mandated fact-finding mission concluded there are reasonable grounds to believe the US committed war crimes in two February 28 strikes that killed at least 178 civilians: a missile strike on the Al-Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab (157-168 killed, mostly children, per Iranian state media and the mission's own accounting) and a strike using tungsten-pellet-dispersing munitions on a sports complex and residential area in Lamerd (22 killed). CENTCOM denied responsibility for the Lamerd strike; the White House, State Department and Pentagon did not respond to requests for comment. The same report found Iranian state security forces committed crimes against humanity 'on a staggering scale' while crushing nationwide protests in late 2025 and early 2026.
