Unclaimed Strikes Disable Saudi and Liberian-Flagged VLCCs Near Khasab, Exposing ~4M Barrels of Saudi Crude

The Saudi-flagged VLCC Sidr (operated by Bahri) and the Liberian-flagged VLCC Senegal Prosperity (operated by South Korea's Sinokor Group) were struck by unknown projectiles while transiting near Khasab, Oman, at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz. Senegal Prosperity took three projectiles to its port-side engine room and ballast tank, went dead in the water, lost shipboard communications, and was left listing; its crew was evacuated by local authorities. Both vessels had loaded roughly 2 million barrels of Saudi crude each at the Ju'aymah terminal, exposing about 4 million barrels combined. No crew casualties were reported. CENTCOM cited attacks on oil tankers and on US forces/bases as the trigger for its September 1 counterstrikes on Iranian territory.
