Iran's Army Claims Drone Strike on UAE's Al Minhad Air Base; UAE Confirms Intercept, Denies Damage
Early on Monday, August 31, Iran's army said it attacked the UAE's Al Minhad Air Base near Dubai with drones, saying the strike targeted locations where US forces and helicopters were stationed and framing it as retaliation for the killing of IRGC personnel and Iranian civilians in the previous day's US strike on Larak Island. The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed it intercepted a drone approaching from Iran over UAE territorial waters, but denied 'false media reports' of a missile attack on Al Minhad, saying its air defenses remain on a 'high state of readiness' with round-the-clock monitoring. The UAE Foreign Ministry called the incident a 'dangerous escalation' and a 'blatant violation' of its sovereignty, holding Iran 'fully responsible.' No casualties or damage were reported by either side.
