Third ADNOC Tanker Attacked in Under a Week as UKMTO Also Reports Bulk Carrier Struck in Hormuz

| Iran Conflict

A third tanker affiliated with Abu Dhabi's ADNOC was targeted while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of Aug 14 — the third such incident involving ADNOC vessels in less than a week, following the two-tanker drone attack reported Aug 14. No injuries were reported and the situation was brought under control; unlike the prior two attacks, the UAE did not immediately assign blame for this specific strike. ADNOC said it continues prioritizing 'the safety and well-being of seafarers' amid the disruption, and puts the cumulative toll at 15 of its vessels attacked while transiting the strait since the war began in February. UKMTO separately reported a bulk carrier struck by an unidentified projectile in the same waterway. Qatar and Kuwait condemned the wave of attacks as violations of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
