| Iran Conflict

Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a decree appointing Mohsen Rezaei, a hardline former commander-in-chief of the IRGC (1981-1997) and Iran-Iraq War veteran, as his personal representative to and secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, replacing Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr in the secretary role. Rezaei, a longtime member of the Expediency Council and senior military adviser to Khamenei, joins fellow hardliner Saeed Jalili as a Khamenei representative on the body that oversees Iran's war strategy and nuclear negotiating position.
