Day 118: Cargo Ship Struck by Suspected Iranian Drone Near Hormuz; UN's IMO Pauses Gulf Seafarer Evacuation
A cargo ship was struck on its starboard side by a projectile roughly 14km southeast of Oman's Dahit port while transiting near the Strait of Hormuz; a US official told CNN it was an Iranian drone. In response, the UN's International Maritime Organization paused its evacuation operation for the roughly 11,000 seafarers and hundreds of ships stranded in the Persian Gulf since the war began. Separately, an Israeli strike on the Zouat al-Sharqiyah-Mifdoun road in Lebanon killed 2 civilians returning to inspect homes after the ceasefire announcement, and Netanyahu said Israel 'will remain in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza as long as required.'
