Tehran Grand Bazaar Merchants Coordinate Shutdown Plans
Merchants across Tehran's Grand Bazaar circulate messages on social media and encrypted platforms coordinating a shutdown for the following day. Mobile phone sellers in the Alaeddin and Charsoo complexes report a 60% drop in sales as customers cannot afford goods that must be repriced daily. The bazaar, historically a barometer of Iranian social stability and a trigger for revolutionary movements, has not seen coordinated protest activity of this scale since the 1979 revolution. Guild leaders warn that a full bazaar strike is imminent.
