Food Import Financing Under Strain
Iranian importers reported difficulty securing letters of credit for essential food imports including wheat, rice, and cooking oil. Banks demanded dollar-denominated guarantees that many traders could no longer afford. The government allocated emergency foreign currency reserves for basic goods, but traders said disbursement was slow and insufficient.
