UN Security Council Remains Divided on Iran Nuclear Path
UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo briefs the Security Council on JCPOA implementation, reporting no agreement on the way forward regarding Iran's nuclear programme despite intensified diplomacy in the second half of 2025. Iran's Ambassador Amir-Saeid Iravani insists Resolution 2231 expired on October 18 and 'ceased to have any legal effect.' Western members defend the snapback sanctions triggered in September, while Russia and China call the mechanism illegitimate.
