Students Burn Soren Effigies, Clash With Police After HC Stay
The JPSC-JSSC Reforms Forum calls for effigy-burning protests against Chief Minister Hemant Soren across all 24 Jharkhand districts in response to the High Court's stay order, with the largest rally drawing hundreds to Gandhi Maidan in Ranchi and further clashes reported in Hazaribag and Giridih. Protesters accuse the state government of 'betrayal' for failing to adequately defend the exam cancellations in court, and allege police and JMM workers used force including assaulting female demonstrators after some marchers deviated from their approved route. Ranchi City DCP K.V. Raman says police used only 'mild force' after protesters disregarded the route given by the administration.
