MoD Annual Report 2025-26 Discloses Operation Sindoor Strike Details; Records 163 LoC Ceasefire Violations in 2025

India's Ministry of Defence released its Annual Report 2025-26 on September 14, 2026, disclosing operational details of Operation Sindoor (May 7-10, 2025) for the first time in an official document and publishing full-year 2025 security statistics for Jammu & Kashmir. On the Operation Sindoor disclosure: beyond the opening strikes on Lashkar-e-Taiba's Muridke headquarters and Jaish-e-Mohammed's Bahawalpur complex (already known), the report details a second wave on May 10 against Pakistani air force infrastructure — four hangars at Jacobabad (PAF Base Shahbaz) housing fighter aircraft, AEW&C platforms and UCAVs were struck, destroying or damaging multiple F-16s, one AEW&C aircraft, and several Turkish-made Akinci/TB-2-class drones, along with the base's cooling plant; runways at Sargodha (PAF Base Mushaf) and Rahim Yar Khan (Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto/Shaikh Zayed airbase) were damaged, and the terminal at Rahim Yar Khan was hit; six radars and two surface-to-air weapon locations were destroyed; and command facilities at Chaklala/Nur Khan and Murid were struck. The report states an IAF S-400 unit destroyed a Pakistani special mission aircraft from 314 km away, and credits the Integrated Air Command and Control System and Akash/Pechora/OSA-AK layered defences with neutralising Pakistani drones and loitering munitions with no Indian civilian aircraft loss. The document also states it was 'irresponsible on Pakistan's part to keep its airspace open while exchanging fire,' accusing Pakistan of using civil aviation for cover, and says Pakistan requested a ceasefire within 88 hours of the initial strikes; 219 gallantry awards were given to personnel involved. Separately, the report's full-year 2025 J&K statistics show a sharp escalation over 2024: 163 ceasefire violations recorded in 2025 (up from just 2 in 2024), 124 of them during the Operation Sindoor period itself, stabilising after DGMO-level talks on May 10 and 12, 2025; six infiltration attempts along the LoC with 12 Pakistani terrorists neutralised while crossing; 19 terrorists eliminated in counter-terror operations overall, 8 of them Pakistani nationals (about 40%) — cited by the report as evidence of Pakistan's 'continuing proxy war' in J&K; and 863 drone intrusions recorded along the India-Pakistan international border across J&K, Punjab and Rajasthan (9 in J&K, 854 in Punjab/Rajasthan), of which security forces brought down 237 (72 carrying narcotics, 5 carrying war-like stores, 161 without payload). The report notes only one local youth joined militancy in 2025 and that the overall J&K security situation remains 'firmly under control' with a decline in street protests and zero stone-pelting incidents. No Pakistani government or military response to the report's disclosures had been issued as of September 14.
