Chandigarh Police Foil Babbar Khalsa IED Plot Near ISBT-43, Arrest Three

Chandigarh Police dismantled a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module and averted a planned IED attack at a crowded bus terminus location near Sector 42/43 on August 24, 2026, arresting three men — Lovepreet Singh (19) and Jashanpreet Singh alias Jashandeep (21), both painters from Tarn Taran, and Prabhpreet Singh alias Prabh (19), a gas-agency helper from Amritsar. Police recovered roughly 5-6 kg of gelatin stick explosives, a detonator, a remotely-operated triggering system, and a pistol with ammunition. Investigators said the trio were in contact with foreign-based BKI handlers — named in reporting as Satnam alias 'Satta' Naushera along with associates Ashu and Gurlal — who directed the plot via social media; BKI is a Khalistani outfit that Indian agencies describe as ISI-sponsored, and the bust follows the NIA's broader probe, which surfaced alongside the Aug 17 Shahzad Bhatti Network case, into Pakistan-backed terror networks spanning Punjab and J&K. Chandigarh DGP Dr Sagar Preet Hooda called it 'a coordinated operation with a central agency that succeeded in dismantling a BKI module and averting a major terror threat.'
