Third LOC Crossing in a Month: Pakistani National Rayees Khan Detained in Poonch's Balakote Sector
On June 29, 2026, Indian security forces detained Rayees Khan, a 31-year-old resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, after he crossed the Line of Control into the Balakote sector of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said no incriminating material was recovered from his possession. This was the third such LOC crossing incident reported in Poonch district within a month: on June 9, 14-year-old Javid Ali was detained after crossing the border and subsequently returned to Pakistani authorities; and 26-year-old Mohammad Sajad was separately arrested after crossing through the Gulpur area of the Krishna Ghati sector. The apprehensions came amid heightened border vigilance, including reports of suspected drone activity near Samba district during the same period.
